Beloved of My Being
Ya Habib Allah,
Beloved of the Beloved,
Beloved of my being,
My soul remembers
a time before time,
a time before soul
merged with flesh.
I remember the time
we bore witness together,
a time before the primordial cry at my birth
began the mourning of separation.
Ya Habib Allah,
Beloved of the Beloved,
Beloved of my being,
born into a world without you
I am an orphan,
longing to be raised by you.
I am a seeker
seeking to find you.
I am a traveler
looking to plant roots by you.
Ya Habib Allah,
Beloved of the Beloved,
Beloved of my being,
every intention to visit you,
to be in your presence
has been re-written.
I have yet to be invited,
but Beloved,
if I can’t come to you
please, come to me,
even if only in my sleep.
My restless soul
longs for your presence,
hopes for your embrace.
Ya Habib Allah,
Beloved of the Beloved,
Beloved of my being,
I am a flawed follower
of your path
and even when it doesn’t show,
Beloved, my soul is for you and your Beloved.
All I can offer is
this flawed love for you
And I pray
Allah will accept
the salawat I make
And in a world beyond here
I want to bear witness,
testify again alongside you.
Madad Ya Rasul Allah, Madad
Hopelessly and flawfully yours,
Tazmin
